Reverie opus 15 n°7 p.58 By Robert Schumann (1810-1856) By Estelle Bertrand Written for piano in 1838, Robert Schumann's Scènes d'enfants opus 15 are divided into thirteen marvelous miniatures drawing their inspiration from childish innocence. Contrary to what one might think, these pieces are not intended for the hands of children, even if their formal structure makes them simplistic. We offer you an arrangement for guitar of the most famous piece of this cycle, the Reverie located in 7th position. For reasons specific to our instrument, this piece has been transcribed in G major (original key of F major), which allows the use of open strings. It is an accompanied melody, that is to say a theme unfolding above a harmonic progression. Technically, some chord positions will require significant extensions (bar 16) and, in five-note chords (bar 15), the thumb will play two strings simultaneously. Look for a round sound and be "rubato" in your interpretation.
