Part+Tab+Audio+2videos+explanations-Aria, “Goldberg Variations”, BWV 988-Jean-Sébastien Bach (1685-1750) By Valérie Duchâteau – The Aria of the “Goldberg Variations” is a little contrapuntal gem in the immense musical output of Jean-Sébastien Bach. Borrowed from the second Klavierbüchlein composed for his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725, this air, which is none other than a sarabande, serves as a starting point for the thirty variations that follow. This work was commissioned from the Cantor of Leipzig by Count Hermann Carl von Keyserling, and composed in Nuremberg in 1741. In G major, on a very slow tempo, this Aria is remarkable for the astonishing tranquility that emerges from it. Technically, the ornamentations are tricky to achieve and require a good knowledge of the style; we advise you to approach them with maximum relaxation. For reasons of convenience, the rhythmic beat should be considered "at the eighth note". For Classical Guitar, this arrangement was written by Valérie Duchâteau and the recording was made with a guitar tuned to A 432 Hz
