Minuet-By Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) By Estelle Bertrand In D minor, this minuet was used, along with the sarabande and bourrée by De Visée, for the music of the film "Jeux Interdits". There is no doubt that Jean-Philippe Rameau composed this piece for the harpsichord, but the exact origin of this dance remains unclear. In this seemingly simple arrangement for guitar (the 6th string is in D), there are many technical difficulties. For example, the parallel sixths or thirds (bars 3 to 5) will require perfect synchronization of both hands, in addition to a strong right hand. Do not hesitate to isolate certain passages and repeat them in order to achieve the desired result. Bar 7, the same motif is repeated three times: in this case, vary the colors or dynamics each time. The second section opens with a series of arpeggiated chords using the thumb. The left hand is at this point put to the test, especially for the barred notes. The most delicate chord will undoubtedly be that of G minor (bar 12), where fingers 2-3-4 come to rest on the three low strings.
